A lion, a fox, and a donkey were friends. One day, while they were out hunting in the jungle, they spotted a reindeer grazing. They ganged up on the unsuspecting reindeer and killed him.
The trio decided to share the spoils. The donkey boldly stepped forward and divided the reindeer's meat into three equal pieces. The lion was furious as he wanted the largest portion. He pounced on the donkey and killed him.
The lion then ordered the fox to divide the meat. The shrewd fox gathered all the pieces of meat and presented them to the lion, setting aside only a morsel for himself.
The lion was pleased. "Who taught you the art of division?" he asked the fox.
"O King, the donkey's fate taught me," answered the fox, laughing.
It is wise to learn from your own mistakes; it is wiser to learn from the mistakes of others.
