The Wicked Middleman

A sparrow once lived in a hole in a tree. He set out to find food and didn’t return for a few days. A rabbit saw the empty hole and made it his home. A few days later, the sparrow returned, but the rabbit wouldn’t vacate the spot.

"Let us ask the cat to adjudicate," suggested the sparrow. "We will do as she says."

So the sparrow and the rabbit went to the cat and asked her to judge.

"I have grown old; I cannot hear properly," said the cat in a feeble voice. "Come closer and explain the matter to me."

When the poor sparrow and rabbit approached her, she pounced on them, killed them, and ate them!

If you fight among yourselves, your strength will diminish, and others will take advantage of you.
