Introduction

Tenali Rama (1480-1528) was a poet and witty advisor at the court of Emperor Krishnadeva Raya (1471-1529), a great ruler of the Vijayanagara Empire. Rama's birth name was Garlapati Ramakrishna, and he got the name Tenali from his hometown, Tenali, in present-day Andhra Pradesh.
