"You have imprisoned Kshatriya kings in large numbers and plan to sacrifice them to Lord Shiva," replied Lord Krishna calmly. "That is why you are our enemy and the object of hatred of all Kshatriyas.
"You intend to do something as terrible as human sacrifice, which is no longer a tradition. It is not immoral to kill sinners or those who have gone astray; rather, it is in accordance with the scriptures. Who knows? You may even attack us in order to increase the number of kings languishing in your dungeon. So, as a precaution, we have come to challenge you and release the kings you have imprisoned."
Thus Krishna made his intentions clear to Jarasandha.
"Which kingdom have you come from?" Jarasandha asked Krishna. "And who are these two?"
"I am your old enemy Krishna, the king of Dwarka. And my companions are none other than the Pandavas Bhima and Arjuna."
The moment Jarasandha heard Krishna's name, his face became contorted with disgust.
"I have defeated the kings in accordance with the rules, and I will defeat you in the same way. But first, I'm going to perform the coronation of my son Sahadeva. Meanwhile, get ready to face me."
