A wild elephant broke a tree branch, and a sparrow's nest, which was on the branch, fell to the ground. When the sparrow saw that all her eggs had cracked open, she began to weep. A woodpecker who happened to pass by asked the sparrow what was wrong. The sparrow narrated the whole incident to him.
"Come, let's take the fly's advice," said the woodpecker.
They approached the fly and told him the sparrow's painful story. He advised them to seek the frog's help. So the sparrow, the woodpecker, and the fly went to the frog and told him everything.
"If we're all united, what will the elephant be able to do to us?" asked the frog. "Do as I say. Fly, go to the elephant in the afternoon and sing a sweet tune in his ears. When he closes his eyes, engrossed in the melody, the woodpecker will rupture his eyes, blinding him. He will eventually need to drink water to quench his thirst. I'll then go near the marsh and start croaking. Unable to see, the elephant will walk straight into the marsh, mistaking it for a pond, only to get trapped."
The four played their roles perfectly according to the frog's plan, and the elephant died in the marsh.
