A monkey and a crocodile were friends. The crocodile's mother had heard that a monkey's heart tasted delicious, so she told her son to get the monkey for her.
"That island's fruits have ripened. I will take you there," said the crocodile to the monkey. The monkey's mouth began to water. Unsuspectingly, he climbed onto the crocodile's back, and the two began to swim toward the island.
Midway through the journey, the crocodile spilled the beans. "Actually, I'm taking you to my mother, as she wants to eat your heart."
The terrified monkey had to think fast. "But I left my heart on the tree back home," he said. "Let us go back. I will get my heart from the tree, and then we will go meet your mother."
The foolish crocodile took the monkey back home. As soon as they reached the shore, the monkey leapt into the tree and saved his life.
